Set of Four No.811 Chairs
Josef Hoffmann, 1960s

£2,600

Description:

A vintage set of four beech Model 811 chairs designed by Austrian architect Josef Hoffmann in the mid to late 1920s. The chair was featured on the front cover of Thonet-Mundus' catalogue (Nr. 3404) of 1934. A version of the 811 without arms also appeared on the cover of Gebrüder Thonet's catalogue (Nr. 3208) of 1932. All chairs in this set were made for Thonet by the Italian contingencies Sautto and Liberale in the 1960s, and have always been together.

The chairs feature handwoven cane backrests, and have recently been upholstered with a linen cushion, providing comfort and lightness to the design.
