Machine Age Aesthetic Brass Lamp
France, 1930s

Description:

A petite adjustable wall light in brass, designed and made in France circa 1930.
The head of the lamp, which evokes an Art Deco vehicle’s headlight, is one piece of brass formed into a bullet shape. A band of ventilation holes, which crown the top of the dome, emphasize the machine age/Bauhaus aesthetic of the light.
Behind the shade, is a ball and socket joint. This allows the head of the light to be moved left to right and up & down.
The small size and adjustability of this piece makes it an extremely functional light that would be perfect as a bedside lamp or reading light. It could also be used to illuminate an artwork or uplight a wall or ceiling.
At present the light is fitted with a black plug and black inline switch. However, the new antique-brown coloured fabric flex the light is rewired with could be used to hardwire the lamp.
In excellent condition. The patination of the brass is both even and rich.
