Copper ‘Rise & Fall’ Pendant
Germany, circa 1960
A large solid copper ‘rise & fall’ pendant light, most probably designed and made in Germany circa 1960.
The elegant and unusually shaped shade has been perforated to create a subtle light effect once illuminated. The perforations are along six concentric rings which are asymmetrically spaced.
Contrasting the more organically shaped shade is the perfectly spherical counterweight and the hemispherical ceiling rose.
To raise the light the counterweight needs to be moved down towards the shade. To lower the pendant the counterweight needs to be moved closer to the ceiling.
The lamp has been rewired and is in excellent vintage condition. Each aspect of the light is covered by a characterful patina which brings warmth and visual interest into an interior.
