Cutting Board & Knife Set
#4363B
Carl Auböck, C. 1950

Description:
A cutting board and knife set designed and made by Carl Auböck II +III, circa 1953.
The board, carved from walnut, is paddle shaped and intended to be for cutting cold meat, cheese, fruit etc… The narrow end of the board has been more elaborately shaped through carving to create an ergonomic handle for carrying the piece making it ideal for use as a serving platter too. Banding the board's handle is a strap of leather which elegantly holds the cane wrapped stainless steel knife in place. In very good condition, the board has been used as evidence of cutting can be seen but these cuts do not detract from the piece and should only encourage further use! The leather, cane and steel are in excellent condition -the knife was made in the famous "Amboss  Works" in Austria and is still very sharp. Knife etched Auböck, Stainless, Austria.
