Oregon Pine & Brass Vanity
A well proportioned vintage vanity unit, made in Denmark, circa 1960.
The two doors of the cabinet open up entirely to reveal a largely mirrored area with storage. Each of the inside of the doors, themselves, are affixed with mirrors. And the majority of the back of the cabinet is mirrored. Three small shelves flank either side of the central mirror and four little drawers sit beneath.
A further three, full size, drawers are featured in the desk section of the unit. On the face of each of the drawers are the same demi-lune (half-moon) pulls in solid brass that adorn the mirrored cabinet. Also in solid brass are the hinges of the doors and the mirror fittings.
The material of the furniture itself is Oregon Pine (also known as British Columbian Pine, Douglas Fir) which has been sawn in two different ways. The front panels' of the drawers and doors, as well as the desk's table top, are quarter cut pine. Whilst the timber of the substructure of the desk and the borders of the cabinets' doors are crown cut.
The vanity unit has been sympathetically fully restored.
