1960s Soviet Maps of Greenland

£250

Description

A pair of maps detailing an Eastern section of Greenland. The maps were drawn and produced by the USSR circa 1960. As well as illustrating the lay of the land, population densities are recorded too -down to the last igloo.

The colours of the maps are startlingly fresh and on trend. The yellow hues range from champagne to honey comb, the blue is a singular solid colour reminiscent of Egyptian scarab beetle turquoise. The graphs and data on the maps are in black or magenta.

Each map is sandwiched between two sheets of glass and thus suspended in its frame. This allows the colour you have on your walls to become the mount of the piece. The physical frame itself is in lightly soaped oak which compliments the colour in the maps terrifically.

The maps join along the longest side.
