A Pair of Walnut 'Trienna’ Armchairs
Carl-Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs, Finland, 1950s
A pair of 1950s armchairs designed by Carl-Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs, Finland, circa 1957.
Although made exclusively of solid Walnut, the chairs' frames are wonderfully light and airy thanks to the space between the armrests and their open backs. The original black leather is wrapped diagonally around the armrests, enchanting the comfort and seating experience. Creating the backrests are latticed straps of black leather, these create comfort as they flex to the shape of/hammock the sitter. The chairs' loose cushions have been newly upholstered in soft and embracing white boucle fabric.
