Wall Mounted Fold-Out Desk James Glen Sivewright Gibson
A petite wall mounted fold out desk with drawer, ink well and wall brackets.
The unit is made of solid oak throughout. All fittings except the newly fitted cast brass 'Bow Pull' by Carl Auböck are original and made of cast bronze. The fold out desk space is inlayed with green leather.
Until 2007 the desks were part of the purpose built original interior of Court 3, the most spectacular of the three main courts, of Middlesex Guildhall, Parliament Square, SW1P 3BD.
Middlesex Guildhall, built between 1912 and 1913, was the crowning
achievement of the career of James Glen Sivewright Gibson, one of the most original architects of the late Victorian and Edwardian times.
The Middlesex Guildhall is the home of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.
The decision to remove the original contents of Middlesex Guildhall was massively controversial and the opportunity to acquire the very last desk available is as unique as the piece itself.
