Description

A vintage black lacquered bentwood suite consisting of a bench and two side chairs by Thonet, Austria.
The design dates back to the late 19th century while the making is definitely post 1919; this can be deduced by the paper label with the name THONET in the middle with a T printed on each side. This label is the third version which was introduced in 1919 and registered in 1922. Every piece of the suite has the label described above and the second type of stamp, which in turn was introduced in the 1880s, applied to a smooth area moulded on the inside of the seat frame.
Chairs and bench feature hand woven cane seats and the signature Thonet sinuous lines curving back and forward throughout the legs, armrests and back.
In excellent condition.
