Horn and Brass Tea Light Holder
Carl Aubock III c.1949
Description:
A striking brass tea light holder with natural horn screen made by Carl Auböck III, c.1949.
The front of the horn screen is a rich amber colour with deep and tactile vertical striations. The reverse of the screen is a smoother surface, highly polished to reveal areas of transparency in the natural horn which the light of a candle would subtly shine through when lit.
The brass frame of the tea light holder also features a statement handle evocative of the 'Earlobe Bookends' first designed by Carl Auböck II in 1948 and still produced by the same workshop in Vienna.
