ND83 Armchair
by Nanna Ditzel
Description
A new, cabinet made, ND83 armchair in oiled oak with handwoven upholstery.
The ND83 was designed in 1952 by Nanna Ditzel and is still made-to-order today by skilled cabinetmakers at Snedkergården Møbler.
The structure of the chair is made entirely of oak. Each leg is a single piece of timber which has been sculpturally shaped. Rounded oak dowels plug the holes in which the fastenings for the back can be found -these help to create the elegant simplicity and honesty of the frame. The large curved back also forms the armrests making a generous but cosy seat similar to a tub chair.
The upholstery is a handwoven fabric; the base colour is a sage green, through this run light and dark blues and purples.
