Vilhelm Wohlert Rise & Fall Satellit Pendel
Denmark, 1949

$2,997

Description:

A vintage example of Vilhelm Wohlert's Satellit Pendel, with a ceramic rise & fall mechanism.

Designed in 1949 in collaboration with Louis Poulson, the lampshade is made from a thick, opaque, white glass, which softly diffuses light evenly throughout. The bottom has a hole with the diameter of 14cm, shooting brighter light directly downwards.

Timeless and classic in its form, the spherical orbs hark to the simplicity of art deco, we have wired the pair with antique brown flex.

Perhaps Wohlert's greatest achievement was in his collaboration in the architectural design of Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (completed 1958) in Humlebaek, Denmark - for which he was awarded the Eckersberg Medal and the Træprisen, both in 1958.
