1950s Oak Armchairs
Carl-Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs
Description:
Pair of 1950s armchairs designed by Carl-Gustaf Hiort af Ornäs, Finland, circa 1957.
Although made exclusively of solid oak planks, the chairs' frames are wonderfully light and airy thanks to the space between the armrests and their open backs. Creating the backrests are latticed straps of tan leather, these create comfort as they flex to the shape of/hammock the sitter.
The chairs' loose cushions have been newly upholstered in natural linen and trimmed with tan leather piping.
