Yellow Stoneware
Table Lamp #1
Kähler, Denmark
1960s
Description:
A stoneware table lamp made by Kähler Keramik during the 1950s.
The base of this stoneware lamp is covered by a vivid yellow glaze, an ocher tending to a Naples yellow, which skims the herringbone texture incised into the ceramic. This balance of glazed and unglazed areas is typical of Kähler table lamps from this period, and can also be seen on a similar table lamp here. Incised into this yellow ground, a gentle, rippling border encircles the rotund base of this round lamp.
This balance of glazed and unglazed areas is typical of Kahler table lamps from this period, and can also be seen on a similar table lamp here.
The lamp has been fully rewired with a UK standard plug and black, antique-style electrical cord. The lamp also includes a lightly textured lampshade.
