Brass Lantern
Britain, 1908
Description:
This brass lantern was made in Britain between 1908-1909. The lantern is suspended by a chain of rectangular brass links, echoing the linearity of the overall design. The neck of the lantern is articulated with cut-away ovals, whilst spherical brass finials adorn the body of the lantern, emphasising its riveted construction in a typical Arts and Crafts fashion.
The interior of the lantern is frosted glass, allowing the piece to emit a soft, diffused light.
The lantern is stamped with an unknown makers insignia and a Design Registry Number. This series of numbers, 'R d. 520706', is what allows us to date the design of the lantern to 1908-1909.
The lantern has been fully rewired to UK standard, takes a B22 bulb, and will need to be mains wired.
