A pair of 1970s British end or bedside tables in oak, glass and wicker.
The overall form of the tables is influenced by Brutalism, the shapes within being simple yet bold and strong. However, the materials used -solid oak, glass, wicker- are much more mellow and organic. The juxtaposition of these elements highlights how they contrast and makes the tables visually exciting.
More subtle details include how the tables’ edges have been fashioned. The lengths of wood used throughout are square edge sections of timber except around the perimeter of the tabletops. Here the edges have been rounded for practicality but also to talk to the two rounded cut outs. Divergently the edges of the cut outs themselves are square.
It is via the cut outs that the tempered glass tops can be lifted to access the wicker clad storage space below.

All aspects of the tables are in very good vintage condition.
