Description:
The brass handle of this turned walnut cup made by Carl Auböck II, C.1949, deceptively conceals one of the many functions of this delightfully tactile object.
The cup itself can be used to store a multitude of dinner table essentials such as wooden skewers, as demonstrated in a press photograph from the Auböck archive. The cup may even be used to store wine corks, as gently pulling the sculptural brass handle reveals a steel corkscrew, neatly stored in body of the cup.
