Cutting Board & Knife Set Carl Auböck
Description
A cutting board and stainless steel knife set designed by Carl Auböck II, circa 1950.
The board, carved from walnut, has been routed to catch the crumbs or juices of anything cut on the solid wood block. The narrow end of the board has also been carved to create an ergonomic handle for carrying the piece making it ideal for use as a serving platter too.
Banding the board's handle is a strap of leather which elegantly holds the cane wrapped knife in place.
In very good vintage condition, the board has been used as evidence of cutting can be seen but these cuts do not detract from the piece. The leather, cane and steel are in excellent condition -the knife is still very sharp. Board and knife stamped Auböck.
