Five Picnic Boards Carl Auböck

Description

Five picnic boards complete with knives and forks designed Carl Auböck II, Vienna, Austria, circa 1950.
Each board is constructed of a single piece of solid walnut that has been chamfered at the sides to create a partial recess to house a knife and fork. The angled edges of the boards also allow the set to be picked up and carried with ease. The cutlery is held in the recesses by loops of tan leather attached by brass nails.
Cane is geometrically wrapped around the handles of the knives and forks which nicely contrasts the naturalness of the material. Further, the organic shape of the cutlery juxtaposes with their material -manufactured stainless steel.
Boards and each piece of cutlery are stamped Auböck.
