Iron Ashtray with Brass Tamper Carl Auböck

Description

A vintage ashtray with tamper by the Auböck Werkstatte, Vienna, late 1940s, early 1950s.
Marked 'GG' on the underside, it is made of cast iron brass and has a key shaped tamper in nickel plated brass; the latter hangs to one extremity of the ashtray, which, in turn, is is shaped as an hook.
Objects alike have been made by the Auböck workshop in solid brass throughout the second half of the 20th century; the fact that this piece has been made out of iron suggests a date just post war.
In overall excellent condition.
