Mahogany & Brass Chandelier Austria, C. 1950
Description
An distinctive pendant light featuring carved mahogany sections, brass details and neutral candle lampshades, Austria, circa 1940-1955.
The interplay between the brass and mahogany that make-up the arms of the chandelier is aesthetically very satisfying. The metal and wood contrast in terms of material but their shape creates a continuous tapering form. Moreover the combination of materials results in the chandelier feeling warm when off and on as the brass and wood both have an even and rich patina and reflect the light wonderfully.
Complete with original brass ceiling rose. Shades are newly made.
