Model #3317
Padlock Ashtray
Carl Auböck II

Description:

A rare model 3317 cast brass ashtray in the form of a padlock designed by Carl Auböck II in 1935 and made by Werkstätte Carl Auböck between 1935 and 1940.

The escutcheon swings left and right to allow passage through to the space inside the main body of the lock. Originally, it was intended that ash was tapped through the ‘peephole’. To access the items stored inside the object, the lid is hinged. Heavier than it looks and with the classic Auböck "wink".
