Nut Bowl Carl Auböck

Description

A large bowl carved from a single piece of solid teak fitted with a cast brass handle that is in part intricately woven with cane. The nut bowl was designed and made by Carl Auböck II in Vienna, Austria, 1955.
The symmetrical arched handle wonderfully compliments the symmetrical ovoid shape of the carved bowl which helps bring attention to the three contrasting materials used, their honest treatment and the quality of their finish.
The balance between elegance and functionality in this object attributes to the success and longevity of this and other Auböck designs.
