Pair of Brass Wall Sconces Itsu, Finland, C. 1950

£1,500

Description

A pair of wall sconces in brass designed and made by Itsu Oy, Finland, circa 1950. The form of the lights’ is entirely made up of geometric shapes; circles, cylinders and a trapezium. Accentuating the visibility of these shapes are the oversized bulbs which add drama and quirkiness. Overall, the composition of the shapes listed gives the sconces an essentialness and quietness which results in them being brilliantly usable -the design would work well in many interiors regardless of period or style. The brass used throughout is polished but unlacquered and so features a nice warm and even patina. Each sconce is newly wired for direct wall mounting. Both stamped with manufacturer’s signature.
