Pair of "Hand Grenades" Alvar Aalto
Description
A pair of Model A110's better known as the Hand Grenade light designed by Alvar Aalto. The lights were designed for the Finnish Engineers' Association, Helsinki. A building planned by Aalto between 1948 and 1952. Aalto also used the design in the Council Chamber of Säynätsalo Town Hall. Subsequently the lights were put into production and these pendants are editions by Louis poulsen, Denmark, made circa 1965.
The magnificently organic movement and colours of green, purple and blue found in the verdigris on the brass shades contrasts brilliantly with the geometric shapes in the lights and also make them unique.
