Set of Four Pine Carver Chairs
Rainer Daumiller
Description:
A set of four solid pine 'carver' chairs designed by architect Rainer Daumiller in 1977 and made by Hirtshals Savværk around the same date.
Although made of solid wood and being impressive in size and proportions the chairs' have a visual lightness and playfulness about them. This could be owed to the bold, straightforward and familiar shapes that make up the frames and the light colour of the wood used.
The carved seat, back and arm rests and the wideness of the seat makes the chairs surprisingly comfortable despite their solid wood construction. The pine used throughout now boasts a rich and warm honey-coloured patina.
