Three Armed Floor Light Denmark, C. 1955

Description

A wonderfully versatile, robust and dignified vintage three-armed floor light designed and made in Denmark, circa 1955.
The light stands on a tripod base that is lacquered black and very sweetly finished with solid brass ball feet. From the thick brass finial that tops the base, three poles splay out upwards. The stems are held together half way up the light by a brass bracket topped by a fourth brass ball. The ends of the three poles, the arms of the light, stop at differing heights but are all capped with flexible goose necks before the matching brass bulb holders.
The slender and elongated rods that make up the form of the floor light expose this piece as a late-1950s object. Further, the marriage of colours, exclusively black and gold, is very typical of the understated elegance of some design in the 1950s.
The off-white linen shades are newly made and the light has been fully rewired.
