Wall Tapestry #5 Marta Måås Fjetterström

Description

A vintage mid-20th century hand woven textile from Marta Måås Fjetterström's workshop in Båstad, Sweden, designed by Barbro Nilsson.
The tapestry features geometric diamonds and rectangles as well as 6 tulip flowers. The symmetrical arrangement of the angular shapes are beautifully contrasted by the warm and whimsical colours used.

The ground of the piece is in a natural linen colour, woven into this are hues of white, green, blue, red and black.

The wool and linen are in excellent original condition. The naturally dyed fibres are still vibrant in colour and retain a sheen from the organic oily fats in the wool.
