#3061 Patinated Brass Box
Carl Auböck II
Description:
A patinated brass box designed by Carl Auböck II between 1930-1940.
The design of this neatly proportioned box, likely for cigarettes, is noted in a workshop catalogue from the 1930s-1940s. The production date of this piece is likely from this around these dates.
The fabrication of the box is exceptionally fine. A deceptively weighty item given its size, the hinged lid has a satisfying "snap" upon closure.
The box is in excellent vintage condition and a wonderful example of the workshop's distinctive blackened patina. A rich hue that hovers between black to brown, with an almost purple reflect in areas, that contrasts beautifully with the polished edges of the box.
