Cane Pendant Light
Gunnel Nyman, 1940's
Finland
£2,500
Description:
A frosted glass pendant lamp with cane skirt and classically-inspired, columnar stem designed by Finnish glass and metal designer Gunnel Nyman, c.1940.
The design of this unusual glass and cane pendant is indicative of the transitional aesthetics of the 1940s. Somewhat classical, with its floriated brass finials and columnar stem, there is a tension between the lamp's slimline proportions and its ornamental details.
The frosted screen diffuses the light of two light bulbs, suiting the piece perfectly for lighting a dinner table for softened, intimate lighting.
This pendant has been fully rewired to UK standard.
