Leather & Brass Humidor
#3617
Carl Auböck II, 1940s
£700
Description:
A leather-clad, brass-lidded humidor, designed by Carl Aubock II during the 1950s.
The combination of brass and leather is typical of the designs by the second-generation Carl Auböck. A student of the Bauhaus under the tutelage of Joannes Itten, Auböck II's function-led approach to design is evident in this simply constructed humidor. Specifically, the flared, t-shaped handle, which is perfectly formed to be grasped in the same manner as a corkscrew.
The piece is in good vintage condition, with an even patina across the brass lid.
