An early 20th-century Swedish Art Nouveau ceiling light, featuring a copper frame with grape and vine-leaf decoration over a domed red textile shade with matching fringe.

Attributed to Böhlmarks and probably dating from the 1910s, the light exemplifies the Art Nouveau fascination with the rhythmic, organic forms of the natural world.

The open-work repoussé copper frame displays an abundance of grapes and vine leaves, which sprawl around the lower third of the shade. The visual symphony of hammered copper, cut glass and richly coloured textile creates a particularly theatrical interpretation of the movement's style. 

The light incorporates three light sources: one positioned within an upper cut-glass shade, with the remaining two suspended beneath the fabric and copper-domed shade. The lower shade is suspended by lengths of hammered copper connecting its decorative crown to the decorative disc backplate. The light has been rewired to UK standard.
