Brass & Leather
Watch or Pipe Stand
Carl Auböck II, 1950s
£450
Description:
A leather-bound brass stand designed and made by Carl Auböck II during the 1950s.
Testament to his time spent at the Bauhaus under the tutelage of Joannes Itten, this unique biomorphic stand consists of a single brass curve encased in leather. Originally intended to hold a pipe, the recess of this sculptural rest could also be used as a watch stand.
The piece is in good vintage condition. A warm and even patina covers both the brass and leather.
