Description:

A petite Utility Furniture Scheme stool in solid oak with woven cane seat and carved feet, stamped CC41.
The stool was part of the Utility Furniture Scheme.
Set up in 1942, the Utility Furniture Advisory Committee, headed by Gordon Russell, endeavoured to assure that the scarce available resources the country had during the war were used in the most sensible way. Among the committee's other members were Edwin Clinch, Herman Lebus, John Gloag and Charles Jenkinson.
