Chamberstick with Illustration
Carl Auböck

Description

A sculptural candle stick designed and made by Carl Auböck II in vienna, Austria, circa 1950. The chamberstick is of mixed materials, a high number of different materials for the Werkstätte Carl Auböck. The handle is cast brass, this is screwed into a blue-leather clad wooded bowl. The bowl is also inlayed with a peach-coloured leather which features a hand drawn rendering of three American cigarette boxes. A beveled glass disk protects the drawing, held in place by a stainless steel spike intended to hold a candle.
