Elegant Beech Chest Of Drawers
Tove & Edvard Kindt-Larsen
Description:
An elegant beech wood chest of drawers designed by Tove & Edvard Kindt-Larsen circa 1950. In the late-1920s Both Tove & Edvard studied under Professor Kaare Klint, at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, where they learnt the importance of proportions -both historic and those informed by anthropometrics.
The Kindt-Larsen’s developed a more contemporary expression throughout the 1950s and were known/are remembered for their awareness of current trends.
Another characteristic of Kindt-Larsen furniture is a contrast between the materials used. This can be seen in this chest of drawers in the way that both the carved solid wood handles and blonde interior contrast with the shell of the chest.
The three lowest drawers offer a great amount of general storage. The top drawer is intended for smaller items such as ties, jewellery, or underwear. Whilst the second drawer down features a foldout out vanity mirror and an area for storing beauty products.
Each aspect of this practical and superbly made chest is in excellent condition.
