Geometrically Carved Teak Medium Bowl

Made in 2009, these bowls were made from salvaged timber from dilapidated colonial buildings in India. A narrative collection, preserving materials that held up the imperial buildings, but reshaping them into something new. The bowls were crafted by local artisans in Mumbai, hand turning the timber into the functional art pieces. Where cracks have appeared, ‘keys’ of opposite-coloured woods have been inserted – highlighting the natural effects of time, as opposed to hiding or masking them.
