Description:

Hand-woven textile by the Cyprian specialist weaver Joanna Louca.
This piece has been inspired by a series of traditional Cypriot weavings used in the early 19th century and boosts the colours of the traditional Cypriot folklore costumes at the time.
The intersection of red, white, off white, blue, aqua and brown threads create a grid defining areas of colors, of which just some repeat regularly. The result is a geometric pattern reminiscent of abstract minimalist 20th C painting like the ones by Agnes Martin.
Length includes bottom and side tassels, it hangs through a metal bar, which is fitted at the top of the textile.
