Rare Brass & Textile Pendant Light
Josef Frank, 1950s

Description:

A 1970s silk chandelier designed by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn in the 1940s. As the son of a wealthy textile merchant, Frank’s ability to manipulate and understand fabric in relation to a piece of furniture and the homeowner comes as no surprise. The silk shade and ‘gathered’ frill softens the intensity of the light bulb, creating a soft atmospheric glow. This approach lessens the intensity of the light and creates a gentle and calming interior element

The umbrella-like shade is supported by a metal wireframe, a brass domed ceiling cup and attachment separate the white cable, and as previously stated the fabric is silk.
