"Rondello" Chair

A low, bentwood armchair designed by Knud Færch for Källemo during the 1970s. 

Rounded square arms connected by a canvas sling. A chair that epitomises the easy elegance of the seventies and that welcomes a slouch with its low profile and soft silhouette. The "Rondello" armchair comes from one of the most daring design houses in Denmark during this period. Founded by Sven Lundh during the early 1970s, Källemo pieces are marked by a distinctively sculptural approach to functional designs. Bringing a sense of art to the everyday, unconventional materials, such as concrete and aluminium, were a hallmark of Källemo. 

There are minor marks to the original white paint of the chair which are commensurate with its age and use. The canvas sling is original but the supporting cushion has been remade to the specification of the original buttoned cushion. 

Cushions of the "Rondello" chair have had varied iterations throughout the lifetime of this design. Solid cream cushions contrasted red framed chairs, but simpler white-coloured frames, such as this, sported brightly-coloured, checked cushions. In-keeping with this preference for pattern we chose a very special fabric, woven by textile artist, Joanna Loucca. Discover more of Joanna's work here.
