Set of Denby “Potter’s Wheel”
Stoneware and Teak
Salt and Pepper Shakers
1973, Denmark and England.
Description:
This cruet set is from the Potters Wheel range for Denby Pottery, designed by David Yorath in collaboration with Danish designer Kurt Franzen.
The design demonstrates an intriguing confluence of two national craft traditions: British stoneware and Danish teak. The stoneware tops feature contrasting finishes, with bands of matt at the base and glazed tops in a rich rust-red tone, perforated with “S” and “P” markings for salt and pepper. Rings of raised clay dots add subtle texture and an appealing tactile element while the curved teak body provides a pleasing ergonomic form.
A distinctive and collectible example of Denby’s design collaborations and a playful and joyful addition to any dining table or kitchen worktop.
The large teak wood bowl featured, is available here.
