Oball Sommerso
Murano Glass Vase
Italy, Late 20th Century

£700

Description:

A striking sommerso glass vase, originally designed by Luigi Onesto for Oball in Murano, Italy.

Hand-blown using the sommerso technique, meaning "submerged" in Italian, the vase features layers of cobalt blue and crimson red encased within rich amber, creating a remarkable sense of depth. Its drop-like form and swaths of vivid colours recall a flickering flame.

Entirely handmade in Murano, the vase is cold-work engraved 'Oball Murano' at the base.
