Wine Cradle
Carl Auböck

Description:

A sculptural bottle holder in solid brass wire and natural rattan rope designed and made by Carl Auböck II, circa 1950. This device is intended to hold a bottle of wine in a way that helps the wine aerate and the sediment settle. Aeration is helped as the angle that the bottle is held in increases the surface area of the liquid inside. It is also the angle, approximately 20-Degree, that encourages the sediment in wine to settle and remain in the heel of the bottle.
The patination on both the brass and rattan is even and warm looking. Stamped with Werkstätte Auböck signature.
