A circular wall mirror with rattan frame, likely made in Italy during the 1950s-1960s.
A versatile medium which was favoured during the Victorian era, rattan found renewed popularity during the 1950s. Favoured for its flexibility, rattan lent itself to exploring the playful shapes and forms synonymous with mid-century design. The frame of this circular wall mirror uses a continuous length of rattan, coiled like a spring, to encircle the entirety of the frame. A playful and delightfully tactile piece.
The frame and mirror are in good vintage condition.
